We go to the Townmasters-Hall, more house than hall, big. The board next to the front door has a sign saying "Reward". orc problem Wyvern-Tor, signed Harbin-Wester, 100g per head orc.
Sootstep goes to catch a pigeon, runs and dolphin dive, picks up the unaware pigeon, runs over "look, I found a pigeon", and puts it in his bag.
Yucca walks in, nicely decorated. A woman sat at a desk near the door in nice clothing, looking human at first glance (sus). They discuss what the building is, play off as new, turn around to us, "This is politics".
Sootstep goes to walk through arc, she says "You need an appointment to see (Mr) Harbin-Wester, he pulls out pigeon, "I have one", she calls his shit, nah.
Tehazysh sent the woman a message asking why she's hiding and if she's safe, "some folks tend to get a bit more riled up when she shows off her features" (unclear if hit on).
Yucca asks if she looks off, I say no. She asks if we want to ask about the reward.
Yucca looks around, sees lots of "best town" posters, a fat dude wearing a cowboy hat, presumed mayor. She asks if the man is Harbin-Wester, there's some bs lore about him.
Tehazysh go up to her and ask for more info now we're alone, Elmar-Barthen is unpleasant and suggests some of the locals try to haze people by sending them to Cragmaw-Castle, which is overrun with goblins. We leave.
We walk about town and see what's going on. We overhear two women talking about woodcarver standing up to Redbrands after threatening his wife, and Redbrands murdered him. The rest of the family has gone missing.
We find him sitting on a rocking chair with a straw hat over his face.
Sootstep walks up to him, nails his saving throw, Daran tries to grab him and misses, grabs his fist, feels his knuckle dusters, "So you're all ready to take on the ruffians (Redbrands)".
Daran goes "what's that noise?", and slowly turns to Sootstep 's bag.
Sildur agrees to attack at night and is vibing around town for now.
Yucca splits off and goes scouting Tresendar-Manor, listens for peeps, nothing much. Continues to look around, stealthily, rolls investigate, see the grass is dented from recent movement. Gets to gap in wall, mid stealth, sees lots of random crap and sees a trap door. Prone and scrambles along stealthily. Goes around building, goes to building at the back, sees sacks in building x 3), gardening shed, sacks have faces drawn on them like hoods, inside on of the sacks are strands of ginger hair. Nothing else in shed. Goes back to the staircase around the foundation. Mid stealth check. Walks into the room and gets startled by Redbrands coat on the back of the chair, raids pockets, finds small brass key. Gets confident that no one's there, starts walking around, goes back to the trap door, puts ear to the trap door, hears something odd and water running. Attempts to open the trap door, and uses tools with a mirror to eyeball in. Sees fresh water running, drops down into the cellar. She comes to another door, hears nothing behind the door, and it doesn't open. Room has all sorts of salted foods and stuff. Another door has people talking and snoring. Decides to spill water onto the floor outside the door with people in it. On the way out sees a thin wall that she can see through (few bricks are lose), decorated with columns on wall, looks empty.
Apologise for being weird and stunted, caught of guard seeing another elf, plus also being able to speak common, yadda yadda,
Ask about the vibe of the town + how they ended up here,
Discuss Reidoth some more and try to remember again now I'm not tired?,
Ask about Glasstaff (name sounds magical?)
Her responses:
She is completely fine with it and understands completely,
She's been here for about a year, on a missionary type deal for her god, Tymora-the-God-of-Luck,
She informs you they've worked out where he might've gone - ruins of an old town called Thundertree. She's really worried about it - she's heard rumours of a dragon around there.,
She has no information on Glasstaff, but jokes about it being a pretentious wizard name.
In the background, Sootstep is trying to train the pigeon to jump consistently when he wants it to.
They are armed, wearing their coats, and holding crap weapons.
As we approach, one of them says, "Time for you to move on, give us your stuff and leave".
Sootstep goes up to meet them, tries intimidation, wants to say "Do you really want to start this fight", they don't seem threatened (13). "Do you want to see a magic trick", throws the pigeon with him, startles them, we get a surprise round. Combat time baby.
Lork-Faithstone uses great axe on first person, smashes them + divine smite for 21dmg, the power of divine smite slices the fucker in two.
Sootstep moves to the second guy, uses fists of steel hits (21), 6dmg, uses Ki, does 3 dmg
